Medal Miniature – The Operational Service Medal (OSM) Afghanistan
1. The Operational Service Medal (OSM) Afghanistan is awarded for service in Afghanistan from 11 September 2001.
2. If currently serving and deployed on an operation, you’ll automatically get the medal; no application needed.
3. For missing medals, talk to your Unit HR.
4. To apply, serve under the UK Joint Task Force Commander.
5. Need 30 continuous or 45 aggregated days of service.
6. Service in Zone 1 or Zone 2 qualifies; Zone 1 service earns a clasp to the OSM.
7. Op Pitting support with 5 days of service or 3 air sorties between 14th and 28th August 2021 gets the Op Pitting Clasp.
8. Ribbon colors represent Afghanistan’s landscape and the three services.
